The purpose of this study was to develop the strategy on activation of village by forest healing. Researcher conducted the questionnaire survey for forest healing village development to classify the mountain’s characteristics by the three factors(linkage resource, program, facilities). In result, village characteristics were divided into two types: single element outstanding type(resource), complex element outstanding type(resource+program, resource+facilities). The development of forest healing village have to focused on the forest healing service recipient and mountain village characteristics. In conclusion, relationship between forest healing recipient and mountain characteristics was as follows: single type (resource) - public; complex type (resource+program) - chronic disease, social vulnerable people; complex type (resource+facilities) - severe disease. The detailed guideline for forest healing village needs to be established according to the mountain characteristics.
This is a comparative study focused on the scenic landscape preferences derived from visitors's perceptions at the Dulle-gil and the uphill trail in Bukhansan National Park. Unlike previous landscape assessment methods, this study contains more direct and on-site analysis with methods of understanding the visitors’ perceptions by using ‘visitor employed photography(VEP)’ which requires each visitor to take preferable scenic landscape with one’s own smart phone camera. The scenic landscape types at two different trails were categorized and then the types favoring most of participants were verified. There are total number of 16 visual landscape types preferred by participants at both the Dulle-gil and the uphill trail in Bukhansan National Park. As in terms of consensus photography(CP) on the Dulle-gil was found to have more diverse elements including both natural and artificial elements compare to the uphill trail. Furthermore, the perceptually excited node(PEN) at the Dulle-gill were found to be more scattered evenly whereas PEN at the uphill trail were concentrated on the entrance and the top of the mountain. It is necessary to consider that the scenic landscape management at the Dulle-gil and the uphill trail require different approaches. Facilities were set based on careful consideration of distinctive geographical features and vegetation in the Dulle-gil. And the management need to be focus on the 'forested area' maintaining natural state in the uphill trail. Futhermore, the result of the CP and PEN in the trails would be helpful to proceed the next step of landscape perception study depending on characteristics of groups.
The purpose of this study is to understand the master plan of “The project on a comprehensive village development with a unit of a based township” through the master plan analysis and to help understand the implications of this project in order to maintain rural villages that can make local residents satisfied with them and promote the project of comprehensive rural village development as a successful way based on a comparative analysis through the in-site survey. The processes of this study are as follows. First, the analysis of development planning created a drawing based on linking business strategy by each region. The current situation and characteristics of planned public spaces were analyzed through the analysis of location and distribution of public spaces and facilities. Second, the situation analysis was performed by the task of shooting based on the basic plan information, and the master plan and status were confirmed through interviews. Also, the analysis of location and distribution of public spaces and facilities was conducted by a created drawings based on a survey. Finally, the detailed information of public spaces and facilities was compared with the investigation by in-site survey and analyzed through the Master Plan Strategy and a detailed classification of the types of facilities among each regional issues. In addition, by overlapping the planned drawings with the results, the results of formations were confirmed and the planned positional changes and the distribution of facilities were analyzed. As the results of “The project of comprehensive village development with a unit of based township”, it was determined that there were many issues on cultural and welfare facilities in this project to meet the business objectives. Also, the facilities the residents needed, identified by interviews, were rural tourism facilities. According to the results, the residents cherished rural tourism facilities as much as basic living facilities. However, as the results of comparative analysis of public spaces and facilities, it was confirmed that mostly the plan was unfulfilled. Therefore, it is concluded that living, cultural and welfare facilities in the township can be maintained and expanded comprehensively as a purpose of “The project of comprehensive village development with a unit of based township” after not only planning process but also the project is fulfilled actually in rural areas.
This study examined the effectiveness of and satisfaction of visitors with the Environmental Improvement Project on national parks’ trail entry areas. A survey was conducted to improve the proposal framework based on the data. Data for the study were obtained from 6400 respondents who used 28 national park offices at 32 national park trail entry areas. The field research was collected in 3200 surveys, divided between pre- and post-implementation of the Environmental Improvement Project. The study variables consisted of socio-demographics, visitors’ perceptions on the environmental improvement of trail entries, effects of the environmental improvement, and visitor satisfaction. Several important results were found. First, the environment of trail entries has a significant impact on the formation of images and user satisfaction of national parks. Second, the influence of the trail entry improvement showed that 71.8% of visitors rated the trail entry as environmentally friendly after the Environmental Improvement Project, compared to 48.5% of visitors rated the trail entry as environmentally friendly before the Environmental Improvement Project. The findings indicated that a top priority of environmental improvement of the trail entries needs to be the installation of convenience facilities such as rest areas, restrooms, and direction boards (pre: 34.5%, post: 32.6%). Third, functionality and the other nine variables were shown to enhance the effect of the environmental improvement of the trail entries at the 1% statistical significance level. Finally, results indicated that the overall satisfaction of the visitors with the park was significantly higher after the environmental improvement (t-value=25.741, p=.000), showing the satisfaction score was higher after the environmental improvement (pre: 3.51, post: 4.12), with a statistically significant difference at the 1 % level. This study helps to understand trail entries, which have influenced the image of the national park and satisfaction. These findings can be utilized to manage and design a national park as a public space.
Due to the Korea's topographic characteristic, there are a lot of marine bridges to connect between islands and mainland. In addition, marine bridges play an important role in a regional landscape. For these reasons, landscape design of bridge is necessary in order to improve beautification of region. So, this studies analyzed image and landscape preference of marine bridges in rural area. The main results were summarized as follows: When rating the image of the background in sea and mountain image, ‘stable’ and ‘natural’ were rated highly. When rating the image of the arch bridge in sea and mountain image, ‘beautiful’, and ‘attractive’ were rated highly. When rating the image of the cable-stayed bridge in sea and mountain image, ‘splendid’, and ‘attractive’ were rated highly. When rating the image of the suspension bridge in sea and mountain image, ‘beautiful’, and ‘splendid’ were rated highly. Next, When rating the image of the background in sea and building image, ‘stable’ and ‘natural’ were rated highly. When rating the image of the arch bridge in sea and building image, ‘beautiful’, and ‘splendid’ were rated highly. When rating the image of the cable-stayed bridge in sea and building image, ‘beautiful’, and ‘attractive’ were rated highly. When rating the image of the suspension bridge in sea and building image, ‘beautiful’, and ‘attractive’ were rated highly. And, The image of suspension bridges in sea and mountain image is more highly preferred than other image. The background in sea and mountain image is landscape of the lowest preference. In the mountain and sea image, the preference of suspension bridge landscape has the highest rating. In the sea and building image, the preference of arch bridge landscape has the highest rating. In conclusion, the results illustrate that the marine bridge's shape and its background in rural area are important elements of a visual preference. When designing the marine bridge, designer have to choose a proper bridge shape for its background. However, this research's limitation is that this research consider only bridge shape and background to analyze landscape preference of marine bridges. Therefore, further research is necessary to consider various elements.
Korea is becoming a model country for the developing countries’ agricultural and rural development. Drawing implications for Vietnam from Korea’s experiences can help make development strategies and policies for other developing countries including North Korea as well as for Vietnam itself. Vietnam is facing an inefficiency in agricultural production and the gap between urban and rural growth has been widening. Farm sizes per household are small and farmlands are scattered. Diversification in rural industry is very restricted. To attack these problems, investment is urgently needed for rural infrastructure building as well as agricultural structure adjustment. In the process of rural development, there have been also encountered such problems as financial procurement, community’s spontaneous participation, manpower development for adjusting to industrial structural change. Korea’s experiences may be helpful for establishing rural development strategies and policies in Vietnam. Benchmark scopes can go beyond Saemaul Undong in 1970s. Korea’s pre- and post-Saemaul Undong era as well as the Saemaul Undong era can be referred. In the wake of globalization, Vietnam has not only experienced compressed rapid economic growth but also encountered policy tasks to eradicate poverty, to realize self-reliance and income increase, and to lessen urban-rural development gap, at the same time. Korea’s experiences show that priority needs to be put on the establishment of national and rural development strategies based on Vietnam-specific conditions, utilization of village’s resources including community tradition and social capital, fund raising for rural development, farmland development and mobilization, production and living infrastructure building, technology transfer for farmers and vocational training for new job seekers.
For rural landscape management to run in virtuous circle, the present study has paid attention to the roles and activities of local residents and administration, which are the main sectors of managing landscape. In this respect, this study is aimed to arrange the roles of local residents and administration for landscape management and propose the basic data necessary to develope evaluation index for effectiveness of rural landscape policy. Key findings and implications are as follows. First, literature reviews of 18 landscape management studies found 37 administrative roles and 7 roles of local residents. And those roles were classified into 3 factors by similar concept: 'local government support system', 'landscape management planning', and 'promoting the participation of residents'. Second, two Delphi surveys were conducted with landscape experts to verify the validity of those evaluation items by sector. Third, factor analysis was carried out to analyze the hierarchical structure of those evaluation items. 3 sub-factors were extracted from 'local government support system' sector; 2 sub-factors from the 'landscape management planning' sector; and 4 sub-factors from the 'promoting participation of residents' sector. Fourth, the hierarchy of those evaluation factors was divided into high and low classes and sub-indexes were structured to examine the relative importance of each class and assign a relative weight on each index. The most important sub-factors were turned out as follows: 'local residents' will to practice landscape activities (0.112)', 'local government budget for rural landscape management (0.088), and 'restriction on buildings by village regulation (0.068). It indicates the viewpoints of the landscape experts that local residents' voluntary participation in landscape activities and agreement of local residents on landscape management by village, e.g. village regulation, are preconditions for successful landscape management. In addition, it is significant for a local government to secure the budget of landscape management to support local residents support.
The study attempts to estimate the recreational benefits of Chilgap multi-purpose reservoir using the on-site survey sample of 130 visitors. The individual travel cost method is used for measuring the recreational benefits of Chilgap multi-purpose reservoir and a zero-truncated negative binomial model is used to elicit the travel demand function. The price elasticities of visit demand are ranged from 0.29 to 0.39. Recreational benefits are ranged from 119 to 156 thousand won per visit and are ranged from 292 to 383 thousand won per annual. When the number of annual visitors to Chilgap reservoir is appled, then the recreational benefits are ranged from 2.7 to 3.6 billion won. This study could contribute to the advancement of post-construction evaluation in the public construction field similar to Chilgap reservoir.
In order to ensure revenue of agricultural products which have encountered the dramatic decline of prices in distribution, the export of the domestic farm produce was started and it has been considered to play the significant role to make fundamentals for securing the stable revenue of farms and future of agricultural industries. The Korean government has endeavored to increase scale and volume of export and make the stable structure for export transaction by supporting government policies. Since the export of the agricultural products was influenced by multiple and uncertain factors such as the gap of GDP, distance, the difference of climatess between countries, in this study of agricultural exports, the attributes of export according to changed factors are derived by using RCA and gravity model. As the complexity of export environment has been increased compared to the past, it is necessary to analyze the attributes of agricultural exports. In this study, by using network theory, trade network of agricultural product, the periodic changes of relations, the changes of centrality and maxium flow are derived. Even though the trade quantity of existing agricultural fresh products are still small, the study derived the need to vertical integration for expanding agricultural product export by applying network theory.
Analysis of Changes in Active Village Community for the Quantitative Criteria Presentation of Marginal Village - As a Target the Chungnam Province Buyeo Country-

The aim of this study is to suggest the quantitative standard of a marginal village. For the purpose, the study selected 43 villages with the population of 50 or less, the classification of a marginal village in accordance with advanced research and 47 villages with the population over 50 in Buyeo-gun region. The common reason of occurrence of a marginal village suggested by advanced research is a characteristic of a village or decline and extinction of a village rather than a simple index of population or aging rate. Therefore, the study assumed that decline of functions of the village would be caused by decline a function of communities consisting of the villagers. The study then assumed that the relatively low or 0 number or rate of participants would result in community functions. The study conducted t-test on basis of population and aging rate and an analysis to find the range with relatively large differences in the number of communities, participants and the rate of the participants, etc. The result showed that the community function began to decline when the population was less than 60~70 and the aging rate over 75%~85%. As the decline of functions of communities began in population of 70, the critical point was met when the population was 40 or less. With population of 40 or less, the young and the old group communities became extinct or showed rapid decrease in the number of participants. The study assumed that decline of functions of a village, a reason of occurrence of a marginal village would be decline of functions of communities, but there was no further analysis on decline or extinction of a village with population of 40 or less. There shall be further studies about whether a village of population of 40 or less is led to decline of a function or extinction of village communities.
Urban agriculture, which can be defined as agriculture performed in a city, is suggested as an alternative solution to restore deserted community and expand green land in city area through cultivation activities. In Korea, ‘Urban Agriculture Promotion and Support Act’ was enforced from May 2012. In addition, in the same year, Seoul Metropolitan Government declared ‘the beginning of urban agriculture era,’ established municipal ordinance, and increased budget to actively support urban agriculture. As a result, urban agriculture practices have been increasing every year. Yet, the way of developing urban agriculture in a uniform way of expanding green land has led to difficulties of securing proper spaces. Accordingly, ‘roof top’ spaces have gained attention. This study analyzes rooftop garden, one of the spaces of carrying out urban agriculture, from the publicness perspective. The study selected a case study of a public rooftop garden in Mullae-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, investigated present conditions and usage features of the garden, and explored the conditions to be a ‘public’ roof top garden. Through theoretical analysis, both physical and non-physical indicators were derived for analysis framework; physical aspects- accessibility, locality, openness, comfortness, and non-physical aspects- subjectivity, cooperativeness, and a sense of community. The results of this study are as follows. First, openness and locality scores were the highest, and comfortness scored the lowest, in ensuring the publicness of Mullae roof top garden. Second, non-physical indicators had stronger effect than physical indicators on rooftop garden users’ awareness on publicness and building a garden community. In conclusion, in order to vitalize roof top garden, users should be engaged from the very first planning stage of building a garden, opening hours should not be limited, and more importance should be put on users to subjectively manage the operation of rooftop garden than merely creating a physical environment.
The purpose of this study is to introduce the village project for conservation and improvement of rural tourism village. So, in this study, the current rural tourism village and storytelling planning are examined and the village project presented in village planning is also examined. And this study propose the storytelling implementation of the village project through the case study related with the Susanri in Jeju. The results are summarized as follows. Firstly, it is important that each village projects are storytelling for tourism resource and improve rural tourism village. Secondly, it is necessary to define story range, action planning, and management agency of village projects. Thirdly, it is desirable that the village projects should be carried out as reviving the local community. Comparing to the storytelling tourism plan, there are few rural tourism plans so far, so, it is difficult to applicate the system of the village project, but, continuous studies in this line can help the rural tourism plan to ensure practicality.
